Cashier

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and friendly Cashier to join our team at a busy grocery store. The ideal candidate will have a passion for customer service and a knack for sales, ensuring that every customer has a positive shopping experience. This role involves handling transactions, assisting customers with inquiries, and maintaining the overall presentation of the checkout area.

Duties
• Operate the Point of Sale (POS) system efficiently and accurately to process customer transactions.
• Provide exceptional customer service by greeting customers warmly and addressing their needs promptly.
• Handle cash, credit, and debit transactions with precision, ensuring accurate cash handling practices.
• Assist in merchandising products at the checkout area to encourage upselling and enhance sales opportunities.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the checkout area, ensuring it is stocked with necessary supplies.
• Perform basic math calculations to ensure accurate change is given to customers.
• Demonstrate products when necessary to enhance customer understanding and increase sales.
• Supervise junior staff members as needed, providing guidance on best practices in customer service and cashiering duties.
• Utilize effective phone etiquette when answering customer inquiries over the phone.
• Engage in retail sales activities, promoting special offers and loyalty programs to customers.

Qualifications
• Previous experience in cashiering or retail sales is preferred.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to interact positively with customers and team members.
• Basic math skills for accurate cash handling and transaction processing.
• Familiarity with retail math concepts is a plus.
• Experience in stocking shelves and maintaining inventory levels is beneficial.
